Young Communists and peace activists came out in solidarity with the Communist leaders arrested in Ukraine.

Young Communists and peace activists rallied across the country over the past weeks to demand the release of the Kononovich brothers, imprisoned by the Ukrainian government. The First Secretary of the Leninist Communist Youth Union of Ukraine, Mikhail Kononovich, and his brother, Aleksander Kononovich, were arrested on March 6, after years of brutal repression.

YCLers organized rallies in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and Ottawa. They also co-organized a demonstration in Victoria on March 20 to demand a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and the release of political prisoners.
