The Young Communist League of Canada – Ligue de la jeunesse communiste du Canada is pleased to announce From Canada to Bolivia: Indigenous Resistance to Militarism + Imperialism, an upcoming webinar featuring special guest Evo Morales, President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia.
This event is co-hosted by People’s Voice, Canada’s leading socialist newspaper, as well as the Canadian Peace Congress and the Communist Party of Canada.
Guest speakers also include Kolin Sutherland-Wilson, a Fireweed clan Gitxsan land defender featured in the upcoming print issue of Rebel Youth, as well as Gina Mowatt, a doctoral student at the University of Victoria and Gitxsan (Frog Clan) land protector. The event will be MCed by YCLer Tyson Riel Strandlund and former editor of People’s Voice Kimball Cariou.
Join us at 11am PT/2pm ET on June 21st, National Indigenous Peoples Day, to celebrate Indigenous resistance against militarization and imperialism.

Two new speakers have been added! Hayden King is Anishinaabe from Beausoleil First Nation on Gchi’mnissing in Huronia, Ontario, and serves as Executive Director of the Yellowhead Institute and Advisor to the Dean of Arts on Indigenous Education at Ryerson University. In addition to having taught at McMaster and Carleton Universities and the First Nations Technical Institute, King is also co-founder of the Ogimaa Mikana Project and co-host of the Red Road Podcast.
Also joining the webinar is Kanahus Manuel, a land and indigenous activist, as well as a mother of four, a traditional birthkeeper, and member of the Secwépemc Women Warrior Society, from the Secwépemc nation in British Columbia.
